Trophy Winner for Monday 18th June 2012, goes jointly to Sanctuary Housing and Anglian Windows for not providing an onsite portaloo for workers involved in the replacement of doors, windows, guttering and downpipes etc. to more than fifty of Sanctuary Housing's properties in and around Timber Close, St Austell, earlier this year. This applying also to the scaffolders working onsite.

The project lasted months in all sorts of weather and some onsite workers often had to make do with whatever was convenient, and out of view, to relieve themselves.

It is not known if there should have been have been a portaloo on site, if it was withdrawn to save money or if persons unknown simply awarded themselves a bonus.

This somewhat smelly, soiled and submerged Trophy therefore goes to Sanctuary Housing and Anglian Windows for not wishing to spend a penny on toilet facilities, and for relying on the residents, for most part, to provide that which they should have provided.

Food for thought : About a hundred yards up the road from the estate is a company which hires out portaloos. Almost opposite this company is a small area of land which now has one newly built property on it. While the foundation was being laid there was already a portaloo onsite for the small amount of men involved on the project.

As the Bard might have put it 'To Pee or not to Pee, that is the question'.

Up-date : When Anglian left the site they forgot to reinstall a number of doorbells and Sanctuary did not check. Sanctuary has since been reminded frequently that some tenants still remain without a doorbell. Although I offered to buy Sanctuary the required doorbells if they will fit them the offer remains unanswered. Anglian left the site during the summer of 2012 and it is now January 2014. According to Sanctuary it is not their responsibility. I disagree.
