Hello Lloyds Bank


I was recently reminded that there were changes ahead for business accounts so had a look at my account at the beginning of this month. I have not had much to do with the account since the run up to retirement.


I was alarmed to see the only transactions were for a monthly Direct Debit of £4.00 and monthly Service Charges of £5.90.


I closed the DD on 01 August and composed a letter to the bank dated 04/08/2017 which I hand delivered the following day. A check was made by the bank of my Debit Card for the business account before I left.


Since then I have heard nothing but I have continued receiving correspondence in relation to business accounts. On 16 August 2017 I received another “We’re updating your business account” and today, 17 August 2017, I received an “Account Summary” for my business account dated 10 August 2017 advising me £5.90 would be debited for “Service provided between 10 July 2017 and 9 August 2017, and that another £5.90 would be debited on or after 07 September 2017.


In response to receiving “We’re updating your business account” in the post on 16 August 2017 I went into my business account expecting not to find it. Unfortunately, it was still there and active. The statement I printed off indicates 2 separate payments of £5.90 were debited from the business account on 07 August which the “Account Summary” I received today, a week after it was sent, also confirms.


My question is, is it Lloyds Bank intention to keep my business account open for as long as it possibly can in order to bleed it dry with Service Charge payments ?
